Installed a new Asus MB with onboard ethernet. My system isn't detecting any network adapter. Do these onboard ethernet controllers require a driver to be installed?

Your OS should automatically detect them. If not, you can use the CD which came with the MotherBoard to load them, or download them from another computer, put them on a USB/CD drive and load them that way.

Well, chances are if you haven't loaded the LAN driver, you haven't loaded any of the other mobo drivers either. You need to use the CD that came with the mobo and install all the drivers except the USB 2.0. XP SP2 should install that one automatically.

I installed the drivers and it now detects the network adapter, however I am now getting a "Limited or no connectivity" error. It's unable to attain a network IP address. I have two other PCs on the network connected to a router and they both work fine. This third one is giving me a "limited or no connectivity" error.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Pete

Unplug the power to the cable modem and unplug the router. Shut down the pc w/ the connection problem. Plug in the cable modem and wait for the lights to all be solid. Plug in the router and wait for it to complete the self test and all lights to be solid. Start the computer and see if you can connect.
