Hi.. Seth Kimara (in a post in "Buliding Own PC" forum) mentioned problems while updating AVG dat files. in my reply, I mentioned that I had my computer get completely screwed-up while updating AVG dat files.. . Computer slowed-down to uselessness, and couldn't find some drives... had to format and completely re-install everything.
Anyone with a similar experience? Original install of latest AVG builds work fine.. it's the dat updates that cause problems. Seems to be poorly programmed update function.
Thanks,

I have AVG Free Edition installed on my 4 home computers and none of them are having any problems after the latest AVG updates.
All 4 computers are Intel based (CPU and chipset) and running WinXP Home.

Cricket.. thanks for the input. My computers are Intel-based, also. The one that had problems is a PIII-933. Will give AVG another try... maybe a coincidence that a problem occured during the update. Have read lots of glowing reports re AVG.

Not meaning to get off the subject but I thought you could only use AVG free edition on one computer.I'd like to use it on more.It worked well for me.Maybe I'll try installing it on another one.

I think you can use the Free Edition as long as it's installed on home computers (which mine are).
If you're a business then you have to use the regular version.
