I’m not sure if this will be in the right place but here goes...I would like to play two songs at once on my PC and be able to listen to one through my headphones and play the other through my speakers.

This is so I can use DJ-ing software on my PC.

Will i need any additional software or even a special sound card??

You help will be greatly appreciated and apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I believe you will have to have 2 sound cards to do this. This way you can plug the line out from one to go to your speakers and the other to go to your headphones.

Is this all i would need to do, what kind of configuration would i need to perform?

Just get a PCI sound card and your OS should auto detect it. Depending on the music playback software you use, you may have to install 2 instances (or use 2 different programs) and set them to output to different sound cards.

i am a mobile dj and what you are asking is something i (finally) achieved. i use pcdj red 5.2 as the software. you need a multi-channel soundcard. i recommend what i have, a gigaport ag which is an amazing soundcard. once you have this, you can edit the configuration of pcdj to split the outputs, so one player is in the mix (LIVE) and the other player is a cue or preview channel. email me directly if you need any other help

Rare, how is that going to put one source on the speakers and the other source on the headphones? I also don't think he wants to use Real and WMP - he wants to use DJ'ing software.
