Hey, FYI: I'm LOVING My Logitech G5 Laser Mouse & G15 Gaming Keyboard

For Christmas, I got a Logitech G5 Laser Mouse and a G15 Gaming Keyboard. Both are made with a lot of bells and whistles specifically made for gaming. The laser mouse as you may have heard/read has on the fly sensitivity switching, weights with which to cutomize the weight and feel of the mouse and a 2000dpi laser sensor. This mouse really does make a difference. It just feels faster, smoother and more accurate. The keyboard has backlit keys that are lit blue and have three levels of illumination which is kind of cool. It's got an awesome LCD screen that tells you different stuff like date and time, CPU and RAM useage, and even multimedia stuff like what song you're playing in iTunes. It's got a volume control dial right on the keyboard that's kinda handy and multimedia buttons like play, pause, FF, RW, etc. that I haven't used yet. One of the more popular things on the keyboard though is the customizable 'G' Keys which you can set up for specific games. The software auto detects any compatible games on your system and then gives you the option to set up custom commands or macro's with the 'G' keys and three macro buttons. Anyway, I'm really having a blast with my new keyboard and mouse and have to say that I highly recommend them. They both go for about $70 each. They also have alot more features that I'm failing to list but I'm too tired and I want to go bed. YAWN.

I want that keyboard pretty bad, but I can't find it in stock locally or on the net (with the exception of one site that wants $120 for it ... NOT)

Even Logitech's site says it is out of stock. Crank up the keyboard factory, and start pumping out some G15's! :p

However, I did get a MX518 recently. Whoa, until you use a high-end mouse, you don't realize the difference. I doubt I could go back to a generic, if I had the choice.

I got mine at Best Buy. There seemed to be plenty of them there. I live on the east coast in New Jersey near Philly. I got it on or around Dec. 22nd. Good luck!

I plan on ordering the keyboard, it looks uber cool. As for the mouse - if I have the $, I might get it, but when it comes to gaming, the accessories don't get the head shots for you - I think I can manage playing with a regular mouse for now :)

ryan, it's obvious you've never played with a good mouse. I use a MX510. Trust me, there is a HUGE difference in your performance with a good mouse.;)

I agree, the MX510 made a huge difference in accuracy for me than when i had my crappy mechanical mouse.

I got the G15 for christmas too - it's awesome. The LCD display comes in handy not just for games but for EVERYTHING. I never knew that I was using 100% of my RAM (1 GB of PC3200) during BF2 play. Looks like its time to upgrade :). Anyways, I just saw CompUSA's site has them in stock for the regular price.

I will consider it... certainly sounds impressive. I was always under the impresion that true gaming skills come from the player not the accessories - however this maybe be somewhat true, I guess I can swing a few bucks for a good mouse - mine is getting old anyway.

Ditto on the good mouse experience vs. the generics, just no comparison imo.

CompUSA site says it is a pick-up item only, and oh imagine that, they are out of stock in my area. Duh, I already knew that.

Bestbuy online has it (they actually will ship it to your door, but CompUSA does not?), but they too want a premium for it. Shipping & tax make a purchase painful. Guess I'll keep waiting.

Exactly. A nublet won't benefit from a better mouse, but you can bet your rear end that any competent gamer will MOST DEFINATELY benefit from it. Guaranteed.:D

I used an MX510 and the G15 on a test machine running COD2 at my local Best Buy, they are both very nice! The mouse was soooo smooth :cool: , and it was neat seeing the CPU and RAM usage on the LCD on the keyboard, the keys felt nice too.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Razer Diamonback mice versus the MX510? One better than the other?

I've used a razer diamondback and i still don't think its as comfortable as the MX510, or any logitech mouse for that matter. the 510 is considerably larger too.
