SATA vs. IDE Help

I'm in the process of building a new PC (primarily for gaming). In my attempt to purchase the correct hardware I've ran into several questions that I can't seem to get any help on.

Here is my current Delima...

1. I'm buying an ABIT KN8 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard that is advertised as having the storage device as SATAII and P ATA.

2. My Hard Drive is a Western Digital 120 GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM 8MB Cache) and it is advertised as SATA 3.0 GB/s

3. I'm trying to find the correct DVD burner and so far I only found one that has the IDE Configuration.

So, I'm assuming the Hard Drive will work with the Motherboard, but will the DVD burner. If so, what cables do I have to buy? What cables to I have to get for the Hard Drive or should it come with the necessary cables?

(I read the SATA forum, and am still a little bit confused)

oh, and what about the floppy drive and cables?? Am I making this more difficult for myself than it needs to be?

Both hard drive and DVD burner will be fine with your configuration. PATA is commonly known as IDE, so you can install SATA and 'IDE' drives into the system.

Don't worry about not being able to find SATA optical drives. They're really not common at the moment.

Your motherboard will come with an IDE cable, a floppy cable, and plenty of SATA cables.

Every DVD burner made is IDE/PATA/ATAPI or SATA and will be compatible. Any standard floppy drive will work. The motherboard comes with one floppy cable, one IDE cable, and 4 SATA cables.

Also, cables will be provided with any Optical drives that are purchased retail. Purchasing OEM drives will be cheaper because thare is no packaging or cables included.
