I recently built a system and my WD HDD keeps showing up in the system tray as the green arrow icon (you can safely remove this device)?? Why would this show up there since it's an internal drive? And this this normal. My build thread is here (http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=145110&page=3)

This is normal. SATA drives are actually hot swappable.

That's odd, I just installed 2 SATA's in a new build and I don't have that.
Could someone elaborate on this?
Depends on the controller. It's not really an issue.

Happened to me. When I built my system with a WD 80 GB I installed the Nvidia Sata drivers that said it would take the load off the CPU for controlling the HD's. My HD's showed up as removable devices. So I just uninstalled those drivers and let Windows take care of them and now they don't show up in the taskbar.

Yes, I think this 'feature' is caused by the Nvidia IDE SW controller. I don't like it either, does anyone know how to disable? (without uninstalling the drivers)

Just ignore it. It's not hurting anything.

If it bothers you, just right click the task bar, click the Customize button at the bottom and choose Always hide for that icon. Just remember to use it if/when you need to remove other usb devices like cameras and usb drives.
