Whenever I click on an Item in my computer, or a folder, instead of opening like it used to it comes up with a search window....so now I'm always having to right click and then find open. This only happens on certain Items, of no specific type, so I often forget to right click.................
I'm sure there must be a simple answer to this.........anyone...?
Appreciation in advance.........

Ahhh, this happened to me before except both mouse buttons were like right clicking. I think it was my old Microsoft optical dying on me because a couple other things were going wrong with it. I ended up buying a newer one after frustration and seeing a better one on sale. I suggest trying a different port if it is USB. What kind of mouse is it.

Have you tried running your anti virus and spyware removal applications yet? Remember to update to the latest version first! Report back after.

It's probably a file association issue. See the attached pic.

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=kb;en-us;321186 should address it.

That's what it was, for me at least! I forgot that.

Thanks for all the input guys, problem solved. Here's the solution I used, which I got from Statica's link........
1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Locate and then click the Default value under the following keys in the registry if this problem occurs with folders:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
If this problem occurs with drives:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
3. Click Modify on the Edit menu.
4. Type none in the Value data box, and then click OK.
5. Quit Registry Editor.
