CD burner isn't so fast anymore

my CD burner used to burn CD's quite fast, it would have CD's done within 4-5 minutes, but now for some reason it's taking noticeably longer

any idea what it could be?

Have you changed CD media? What software are you using to burn?

i'm just using iTunes to burn some new CD's i got, i've always used it for all of my CD's

How are you doing the burns? CD to CD or HDD to CD?

Do you defrag your hard drive prior to doing the burn?

Perhaps the drive has been set to PIO Mode?
