Hardware

Dell Inspiron 8600 with latest Bios A14

Problem

After selecting to boot 1st from CD-ROM in Bios computer will keep booting to HD. I have dual booting DOS, RedHat so it goes to the Grub Screen automatically bypassing the 1st boot device, the CD-ROM. When I deselect HDD as 2nd booting device it gives me a message that it will not boot with option to enter SETUP again.

Any ideas?

What CD are you trying to boot? Have you tried another bootable CD?

I have seen some that say to boot from the cd press F1 or any other key, it may be on you screen so fast that you don't see it.

Booting to a Fedora Core V2 CD. I am choosing F12 in this laptop and choosing to boot from CD-RW, however the Dual Boot GRUB menu still comes up. I have a feeling Grub is the problem

Found the culprit. Turn out to be a bad, brand new, bootable 1st CD with Fedora Core.
