Hey guys I'm going to be building a box for a friend and hes pretty much decided to trust my judgment. I just built myself a AMD one box and I'm loving it sofor him I'm gonna go the same route. He hasalittle more to spend on his cpu then I did at the time so I'm looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103529
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103562

now this is gonna be a kinda all purpose box. He does a lot of surfing, video converting, some gaming ect. ect. And he tends to do several different things at once. That being the case would I be better off getting him the slower dual core chip or the the faster single core being that they are comprable in price.

I just built one with the 4000+ and so far so good and it seems very nice.
However, I still am very much a noob, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

If he's doing several different things at once, I think the dual core would be an advantage for him, even with the slightly slower clockspeed. He will still have good gaming performance, and the multitasking will be improved with the X2.

The Dual Core would be my choice too, much better for multitasking.

Dual core all the way, in this scenario.

I have the 4000+ san diego core, its running everything I throw at it easily.
For instance F.E.A.R. max setting runs smoothely with no lag

but ill say like the rest if hes into multi-tasking go for dual core, otherwise Ill stick with the single core.
