Those of you that made suggestions to my problem with the Windows download page I would like to offer a further note. As you know after the page was loaded it showed :error on page: in the status bar. Now today when I went to a site with a scrolling message in the stsus bar it showed the same message. I could read the scroll but it showed the same :error on page: as in Windows download. I am unable to get my critical downloads from Windows and it is bugging me! I am sure it is in my computer and not a flaw elsewhere but I am at a loss to even guess at what it might be. Yes, have re-installed Windows 98se and IE 5.5.

I didn't see your original post, so I do not know if this was suggested,

GoTo the IE Icon>Right Click on Properties> Click on the Security Tab>Click OnThe DEFAULT.
Next go to the Advanced TAB and Click on Default.

Are you using a Firewall, and if you are, have you designated the firewall not to allow communications.

ok, I did the default items and made sure my Zone Alarm allows IE to access the internet. The error sybal still appears. Perhaps if I reboot? Let me try that.

No, error is still there. When I double click on error to see the problem it says "Parent GBL Lock" I do not have a parent control.

Well, I'll be! Duhhh, a parent control I knew nothing about! Anyway I will attempt to follow all of the instructions on the page you provided. Why couldn't I find that? I don't know but I will try it and let you know with a reply to this post.

Ok, I did everything the facts list said to do including all of the downloads. The error still persists so I E-mailed them a request for help. I am pretty sure I will get a form answer back but maybe it wil be something that I can use. The parent control shows when you click error! I have changed iot to allow everything! Hopefully I will be getting back to you when it is fixed!
