I recently fitted (1 week ago) an ECS K7VZA motherboard into my daughters computer. Since then when I boot it, it has no display whatsoever, no bios--nothing.
If I remove the case and remove and re-fit the graphics card it boots perfectly.
I can re-start the computer successfully, it is only after a shutdown that the problem appears.
Two days ago I replaced the Voodoo card with a G Force 2, the problem is still happening. The graphics card does not appear to have lifted from it's slot, but a removal and replace will let me boot up successfully.
I have tried it with my monitor, it still gives the problem, so the monitor is not to blame.
I will be grateful for any help or suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Jack

Dunno, mate....

2 things you could try: go into control panel/system/device manager and see if there are any conflicts with the driver, or go into BIOS and if there is an onboard graphics option, disable it.

Cheers,
Chris.

I have tried virtually everything, I have removed all of the IDE cables so that only the bios display comes up and it still has nothing until I re-seat the graphics card. I am thinking now that it is a faulty AGP slot on the motherboard.

Thanks for your help

It could be a faulty slot on the motherboard. It could also be when you push the card in that it is grounding out somewhere.

I took the computer to my supplier last night, they had a look and said that it is possibly a power supply problem. They suggested that I probably disturbed the wiring to the motherboard while re-seating the graphics card. The main plug on the motherboard is next to the AGP slot.
They replaced the power supply free of charge as it was not very old, then told me to try it and come back if there were any more problems.
It is now working perfectly, my daughter can shut down and switch on with no problem.
The people I buy all of my "computer bits" from are the most helpful I have ever done business with, they gave me free advice the first time I ever went there, and solved a problem I had, without charging me.
Perhaps it was stupid of me not to have gone there as soon as the problem started, but I like to have a dabble with anything which seems like a challenge.
Many thanks for your suggestions

Jack
