I just built my first rig with the help of the tutorial on this website. It went without a hitch. Its been running well for the past 2 days.
My setup is as follows (all at stock settings)
msi k8n neo 4-f
amd 64 3200
dual channel 256 x 2 ddr400
hitachi maxtor II plus HD 250gb SATA I
rosewill 6200TC 64mb onboard supporting 256mb
rosewill 19"lcd dvi/vga
my problem that i ran into today was playing games. With the dvi out the screen would have these long flickers. by long I mean it takes about 5 secs for the screen to come back. it seemed to happen with the move of the mouse. whenever the monitor loses signal and starts up again a little "dvi" text shows up in the top corner showing which input is getting signal. this message does indeed show up after a flicker episode. this flickering just continues until i ext the game. it makes the games unplayable for obvious reasons.
I downloaded the latest nVidia drivers and loaded them up. same problem.
i switched to vga and everything worked perfect. of course my non-gaming screen clarity sucked.
I'm thinking the problem lies in the DVI out from the card, but everything else from video playback to general web surfing works fine. I'm stumped. Another possibility is the DVI cable? I'm tempted to return this card and get a 6600 for actual onboard memory. I'm sure that would boost performance but to be honest i only play modest games and dont need powerful hardware.
any help would be great.
