I was playing a game the other day and my cards temp was recorded at a high of around low 80s celsius. Now is this normal for gaming or too much? The card in question is in my sig. And yeah its oced.

A lot of people would say that is too high, but from my experience, ATi's can take the heat. I have a 9800XT, and I thought it was running a little hot too, (between 80-90C). I contacted Powercolor who manufactured it, and they told me that temperatures such as those are normal, and that the stock heatsink fan should do fine.

Since you are overclocking though, you might want to look into a little extra cooling, but you should be fine.

Take it back to stock speeds. Now what temps do you get?

Yeap now its at a max high of 70C...b4 it was gettin close to 90. So no oc for me :( ? So if i want to oc more then stock i need to get a better cooler right?

Yeah...while I've heard of GPUs getting hotter than that without damage, I really wouldn't want to see anything over 75C. Probably better not take any chances. An aftermarket cooler (ie, Zalman) would probably allow a better overclock.

Alrighty then. Oh and just fyi, i played while it was reaching breaking point hinting at 90C. And i noticed my graphics breakin up and artifacts. Thats happens when ur oc and high temp mix right?

Yeah, the artifacts could be caused by a too high clock speed or extreme heat. I'd leave it at stock until you can work some cooling solution out.
