I have built my PC, it's my first one, and I wanted to install Windows XP on it. I inserted the CD, and it ran all those checking and loading etc. but in the end it says that windows cant find a hard disk. I have a hard disk installed and I'm sure that it's plugged in properly cuz i see it in the Bios. So I thought maybe it needs a driver. I loaded the CD with the driver into the computer and it told me to insert a floppy into the drive so it can make a driver diskette. i did, and nothing happened. So i restarted and now it cant even read the CD. What is wrong?

I may be mistaken, but don't you need Windows XP 64 to run a 64 bit CPU?

No, you don't. You just won't get the added benefits of a 64-bit processor if you don't have a 64-bit OS.

During the Windows installation process are you installing the SATA drivers from a floppy disk?

Check your motherboard manual again to see which SATA port the main hard drive should be plugged into.
