I have used the Cordless Optical TrackMan from logitech till now, and I like it, but I had an extra laser mouse around that i just bought from logitech, the classic laser mouse, and it does have its advantages..

anyway I have a $100 gift card to use and I was wondering if the Logitech MX518 was a good mouse?

I was looking at the wireless, becuase the cord can recoil and just.. really piss me off with something i have to move, but the wireless doesn't have the back and forward buttons, only back (wtf logitech?) also, it uses some crap rechargable batterys that only last 2 days and have to charge when the pc is on.

that just sounds like a HUGE unnessisary hassle. my trackman lasts for months on 2 AA so wtf?

Also, this mouse gets its power from the cord right? not a battery?

most of the reviewss on newegg are 5, but recently they all went to 2 and 1... witch i think is some company lowering the scores or something.. becuase thats just weird. but they were claiming not detecting small movements and fast movements

I recently bought that mouse and although the computer I built it to work on isn't up and running yet, I 've been using it on another computer and I think it's great. I often use both cordless and corded mice and I don't notice any difference at all as long as the cord is secured in a good way. Plus no batteries required.

My MX518 is very comfortable and durable. I don't think I will end up using the adjustable sensativity very much but I would never hit them by accident so it's not a bad thing. The two side buttons are perfectly placed, not to hard to hit when you want to but would never get in the way (unlike other mice I've used in the past). I love the scroll wheel too, it's very solid.

It's perfectly accurate as far as I can tell.

Overall I reccomend this mouse strongly.
