hello.i am running (2) seagate 120 gig harddrives off a "promise ulra 100 tx2" controller card. one drive set up as master, the other set up as slave. now i want to set up another seagate drive on the other channel of the card. i had all jumpers set to cable select and bios did not recognize it. in fact it i could not even get into windows.can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?

Did you try setting things back up to Master / Slave? The second channel would also be Master / Slave.

no i have not . right now i have a third drive set up on second channel as slave jumper set as cable select.the other two drives off channel 1 are also cable select. i want to set up a 4th drive, but not sure how the cable will connect since the 3rd drive already is on slave.

if I remember correctly, that card wants to use 80 conductor ribbon and all the drives set to CS.
I have two maxtors and two WD's on mine.

okay. thanks bailey, i will give it a shot. and also thanks two rails.
If you want to put 4 drives on the card, both cables need to be 80 wire and all 4 drives need to be cable select. Make sure you follow the correct color coding and plug the correct end of the cable into the controller - and the slave will be on the middle connector, the master on the end connector. Never connect a slave and leave the master end hanging - this can cause issues with some controllers. However, you can connect a master and leave the slave connector open.
