evga graphics cards

i have decided that evga is going to be the manufacturer of graphics card i will use. i am using the desktop in my sig. i wonder what is the difference, besides price, for a 6800gt and a 6800 xt, and a 6800 gt and a 6600 gt? assuming all have same onboard memory. is it just core and and memory speed? if my system has 533mhz ddr2 ram, which is more important to satisfy? ultimately i want to purchase a new card for gaming cuz my onboard is obviously not satisfactory. i am planning to purchase >400 watt psu prior to installing. i wonder which is superior, beyond the number scheme. when ive looked at retailer websites, not manufacturer yet, all seem to have the same key funtions: direct x, scalability, cinefx, shadowing..... is there some other reason to have as many cards available? what is the difference, except a few dollars?

gt and xt class and any other letters after the number refer to the the class thier in. core/mem speed are different in each card. like the ati radeon x850pro is clock at 500/500. the xt is however clock at 520/540 i think and also has 4 extra more pipelines. the 6800 gt i think is superior in core/mem speed than the xt and the 6600. i think companys like bfg and evga clocked thier cards at different speeds. those brands are overclock cards. there are others of course.

When you get there, choose the "compare" option, and then plug in the names of the cards you want to compare. The numbers will be from an nVidia "Reference" basis, and any card sellers who overclock from that will still generally be in the same overall speed class.

thanks im going to go with the evga 6800 gs with the copper heat sink on it!!!!

sub 200 those are fine but if you go past 200 dollars it would be hard to justify getting a 6800 rather than a 7800GT, which are less than 300 these days.
