After reading though some of the issues about hd,hdmi, hdcp, etc, etc i thought rather than pay for a hd-dvd player as soon as poss because like most of you guys i cant wait for it so am going to try to wait a while for the market to settle down and then make my choice ,
In the meantime i would like to play hd content though my pc via my graphic cards dvi output and use a dvi - hdmi adaptor to plug into my tvs hdmi socket will this reduce quailty or even play hd or any thing like that ?

The video portion of HDMI is identical to DVI, the connectors just look different. The adapter will not reduce the quality.

You may have problems, however, playing HDCP protected content. Though, even HDMI components are having problems with that rediculous content protection.

if you're talking about playing back your own HD recordings then yes a DVI -> HDMI cable will work fine.

if you mean HD-DVD or BluRay or whatever other format comes out, who knows. the people making that stuff don't even know, it's a big mess atm.
