Ack. I've put everything together, it seems that it's connected right, I can get into BIOS--but I can NOT get it to read the boot disks from the CD-ROM. Or, for that matter, from the floppy. I exchanged the floppy out and put in one that I know for sure works--still nothing. I changed the "Boot" section of BIOS so that it chooses the CD-ROM first, then the floppy--nothing. I changed it so the floppy is first. No deal. Both the CD-ROM and the floppy drives make noise and show lights when I turn on the computer, but that's all.
Can anyone help? Thanks!!!

Could you list the components you are using?

Motherboard: ASUS A8NSLI Premium
Case: ASUS Vento 3600
CD-ROM: NEC 3550
Processor: IMD 64 3700+
Hard Drive: SATA 250 GB Samsung
Video Card: G-Force 7800 GT
Memory: Kingston 1 GB (1 stick)
What power supply are you using? Does it have a 24 pin main ATX connector and are all required connectors attached to the motherboard?

I got it!
The problem was that there was a jumper in the wrong place, meaning that a warning came up every time saying that somebody had been tampering with my chassis--the warning automatically made the computer go into BIOS mode without anything else. I moved the jumper AND turned off the "case warning" switch in BIOS (not sure which one was actually the one that did it). Since I'm not worried about people tampering with my computer, I don't need it, and now the computer will boot. Hooray!
Thanks!!
