Cant burn dvd with Cyberlink DVD

I try to burn the "Selena" DVD with cuberlink DVD and it says that it cant becauyse the dvd is protected... how do I get around this and burn it? is there anyway? if not then whats the use of a dvd player if eveyrhting is protected?

It's legal to make a backup of DVDs you own but it's illegal to circumvent copy protection.
We're the ones that let them pass the DMCA (Seemed like a good idea at the time?).
A search of this site will bring up DVD backup instructions as well as suitable programs.

I didn't know that Cyberlink had a DVD burning program - all I know of is PowerDVD, which is only a player.

It's called DVD Solution 4, and it is burning software, you can get it for free if you register a retail product/upgrade of PowerDVD .
Haven't tried it though and nothing in the specs indicates that you can use it to copy DVDs.

locodezine DVD copy programs that come with stand alone DVD players and DVD software players will copy only unprotected DVDs, i.e. home movies. It's because of the licensing argreement with the DVD Forum/Consortium.

To copy a DVD you own is not illegal. The software to do it is not illegal and is readily available on the internet. Freeware is just as effective, and maybe more effective, than the payware.

DVD Shrink is a single piece of freeware that will rip and burn to DVD. If Shrink can't rip, then use DVDFab Decrypter, which will rip only. Burn the files with Shrink.

The problem is that you may be wanting to put 6.4 GB on a 4.3 disk. What you do is to throw out all the unnecessary stuff, like trailes. This leaves a whole lot less information to compress.

BTW, my daughter has asked for the Harry Potter series for her and her son. She thinks I'm going to drive around town, rent the series, and burn it. Too expensive and too much trouble. I'm not going to download it either. Even more trouble.

I'm waiting for the four volume compliation to come out March 10. I'll just buy it and mail it to her.
