Hello,

I have a problem with my wireless connection.
Current setup is a cable modem that goes into my Vonage Linksys router which I have a belkin wireless router setup as an access point. The machine I use has a trendmicro pci wireless card and the connection to router intermitently drops. Sometimes it will happen once a night, sometimes it will happen several times.
My wife's computer, which is in the same location, never seems to drop.

I have two issues with this problem. 1. It happens while I am playing BF2 and keep having to jump back onto servers. 2. It disrupts my torrents.

When the connection drops, it never reconnects. Shouldn't it do that? I have it set to "automatically connect" when the network is available. To me, that means the if the connection dropped, it would automatically reconnect. Instead, I have to switch to my desktop and hit the "connect button"

Please help! I am not a techy person and I have no idea how to even start troubleshooting this problem.

Thanks!

I'd try reinstalling the drivers for the wireless card - or get a better card.

hehe...I knew it wouldn't be the greatest card since it cost me $9 on newegg.
I did get a netgear card a couple months ago, but after I installed it, my computer kept crashing.

What else do you suggest? Linksys, D-link, belkin?

If you have a Belkin router, get the matching Belkin card. That way, if you have to call for support, there won't be any finger pointing - router mfr blaming it on the card and vice versa.

ok...I have a belkin card on order, it should be here in the next couple of days.

but what about the automatic reconnection? am I right about that? or do I just not understand what it means?

thanks for your help!
