Hello new to forums, wante to say hi and ask a quick question. My house is all carpeted and the sad excuse for a kitchen is to small to be able to do anything. Would a anti static wristband be enough to take care of the possible static electricity from the carpet. Im just really worried I might mess up some stuff in the process and this is my first build :) Thanks for reading, anything you can offer would be awesome!

Yes, that would be a good idea. Make sure to attach the wristband to a proper ground, and try not to walk around too much when you are working on your computer.

Don't place any electronics on or near your carpet, work on a table. Using a wrist band is useless, since the carpet will react with the pieces on its own, though using one is indeed good, since you will be generating fair ammounts of static elec when walking around :)

Awesome thanks, Im going to assume a proper ground would be the unpainted part of the case? This makes me so nervous haha. Its my first complete build and ive replaced every part on a Pc individually before still going nice and slow. Thanks again

If your careful you can do it without a grounding yourself. Just before installing any components just touch the case to discharge any energy you have built up.. This is how my first built went when we had all carpeting in my home... but there is nothing wrong with grounding your self...

Another possibility is to put an anti-static chairmat under your work area. That will be usefull once you start using your computer as well -- office chairs roll much better on that type of surface.

I built mine standing on carpet with a wristband and it worked out fine
