I am not necessarily new to computers. In fact I built one and had no problems about 6 years ago. I have now built another new one and am having troubles with the first boot. I was able to get to the cmos fine and look at everything. I was in the cmos at one point and it just turned all blue with white blocks all over it. Now when I hit delete to get in nothing happens. I should also mention that before this I was unable to get the computer to boot from either the floppy or the cdrom. It seems to run slow when detecting the cdrom and the hard drive also. From what I can see, everything is hooked up correctly. I checked the "case tamper" jumper as I found in another thread. There is no jumper in place to move. Help, this computer is for my girlfriend who purchased all the stuff. I know she is concerned but not saying anything. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

ok, just so everybody who reads this knows, I can not get into the cmos setup again. I left it off for a while and it appears ok now.

The Sempron 3300 is not a supported processor on that board.

GLC, that's really interesting. I purchased this as a bundle from Tiger Direct. I have gotten farther though. I discovered that the WD HD cannot be a master without a second had drive installed. I changed it to CS and the slow IDE detect was solved and things seemed to get a whole lot better. The compter then tried to read from the cdrom and went into windows setup. Then I got an error message "Line 5831 of the INF file/3863txtsetup.sif is invalid. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit". Any thoughts on that? I still cannot get it to boot from the floppy and I don't know why

Ok, I tried restarting and installing again and now I got a message that reads"file ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded error code is 7" . Does this all come back to an issue with the proccessor not being compatable. I just can't believe that Tiger would be selling bundles with a processor that does not work with the MOBO

Microsoft has a Knowledge Base article on your error message: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318729/EN-US/

And don't be too shocked that Tiger would make a mistake. It may or may not be the issue here, but Tiger doesn't have the best reputation.

Thanks alaron, I have considered that it's a mistake with Tiger but if the processor was the wrong socket would it still fit? This one dropped in place nice as can be. I'm going to try and restore the cmos defaults and see what happens.

Yippee, I reset the cmos to default and everything went off without a hitch. The computer is up and running and seems to be doing very well. I don't understand why I had to reset the cmos but I don't care at this point. It's working. This leads me to the next question. If the processor is not the right one for this mobo then would it operate like it is. I can see no ill effects at this point. As a matter of fact, it seems to run faster than my P4 2.53ghz.

I wouldn't imagine you'd have any problems as long as it stable and runs at the correct speed and everything...
