After downloading Belarc I found that my administrator account shows 154 log ons. I have never logged on using only the administrator account (to my knowledge).

The last time this system was compromised was several years ago and I have maintained excellent security ever since then, but I cannot log on as administrator. The original administrator password has been changed. Is there any way to clear the administrator password so I can secure the administrator account with a password that I know is mine only?

XP PRO, SP2, build 2600

OK, I found a tool for this but I think describing it's use would violate forum rules.

Thanks anyway.

within xp I all you need is any admin account, and you can reset the password on the other accounts.

There are a number of tools out there that will let you "hack" into your administrator account. However, by rules we arent going to let that information be posted on this forum, because we have no way of knowing the authenticity of the situation you claim you're in.
However, since part of this was previously posted on a PCMech tip of the day, I am giving you a complete set of URLs on a very legitimate information site and hope that you can get to the answer. http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm Meanwhile this thread is going to be closed..... And I would urge you to re-evaluate your entire system security. It obviously has some holes in it.
