Antec TPII 550W
BIOSTAR TForce4U ATX
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 1GHz HT Socket 939 Processor - Retail
CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel
XFX 7800 GT
I am using my old CDROM and Hard Drive its a 7200RPM seagate.
Well first off I placed everything within the new case and all looked good. I turned on the power and it went directly into the BIOS. I was super excited that everything went okay. Well all I did in the BIOS was to have it boot from the CDROM drive. I rebooted the Computer and the best word that I can think of what happened is it got stuck. Lights on the case where flashing as well as I could not remove the windows disks from CDROM. I immediately turned off system. Before I forget to mention when I was in the BIOS the CPU temperature was at 31C. Well upon trying to get back into the BIOS the computer would no longer turn on. There is 4 led's on MB saying what the Status is. There was only one on. Saying that the computer was ready for power. When I turned the Power on a second LED lit. Saying that the RAM was recieving the correct voltage. According the Manual all Four LEDS need to be on. That was the case when the first I turned on but not since. So here are my questions.
1. First is the PS and MB compatible? I am not quite sure because there is actually only 23 pins on the connector. PIN 19 there is nothing. The MB manual says that on PIN 19 it needs -5 V. I called Antec and asked them if it is normal. They said yes that is the way that all 24 pin connectors are. Is this true?
2. Second is this something I could have done to my MB. I called BIOSTAR and they suggested to take everything out of the case a try to reboot. So I did but still not success. They asked if there was audible alarm and I said no, but I did not realize at the time that I needed the speaker hooked up. DUH!!! Well I am a NEWBIE.
3. The fan in the Power supply would not spin at all, so does that make my PS bad? The Power Supply would not work in my other computer either but once again there was only 19 PINS insead of the 20 that would require to start up the MB. Although there was led lit saying that power is applied to the system. The system although would not boot up. When power button was applied.
4. 12V 19A for the P/S. XFX 7800 gt recommends 20A. Is this going to be a problem or could even be my problem?
I have sent PS and MB to NEWEGG for RMA. I will be getting the new parts in a couple of days. I don't want to have the same problem happen again. Did I possibly do something wrong. Maybe everything is not compatible. I checked when I bought the parts and I thought everything was but I could be mistaken. The only think I was unsure of was rather or not MB and PS where. They are Both ATX so I was not to concerned but now I just don't know. If you could please help me and tell me where I went wrong I would appreciate it. Thanks!
