Is it possible to build my own gaming laptop?

Building your own laptop is not possible since the parts are so proprietary. However, you can get a good gaming laptop from other places for much less then Alienware. Look around at Sager or even Dell.

It is possible, but a pain in the neck and more costly than buying a complete machine.

What's your budget for a laptop? If you give us that, we would probably be able to recommend one to you.
