I have my system up now thanks in part to this forum. XPprox64 is working and I have raid 0+1 set up. I want to install suse 10.0 (2.6 kernnel). Everything I read talks about raid0 or raid 1 and mostly 2 hdd's. I set up the 0+1 with Nvraid and suse won't install. I have been reading about the dmraid driver for linux and still no mention of 0+1 raid array. Am I going to run into unforseen trouble here?
I am considering starting over and just setting up the Linux as it is the server software I will be needing in the end. Free as apposed to a couple of grand. Although I am having fun learning about operating systems I am a little worn out from hunting down and putting a plan of attack together. I have other things to learn when I get this running as a server and anxious to get to it. So , what do you think ?

If you have a RAID array already set up under win xp, trying to add another OS is just asking for trouble. It's all in how the disks are used. For two OS's you need seperate partions for them. RAID (generally speaking) tratsd all your disk as one big one.

Thanks for the reply LocoCoyote. I think I am going to take a whole new approach and put 1 OS on each of the 3 HHD's and use 4th for backup. Just so you know where I get the idea of even trying to partition over a raid array I give you this link to look at.

I also found a software tool that does resize and create partitions with existing OS's on the disk. As much as I would love to take the time to play with this approach and then share the results, time does not permit. Thanks again for the advice. I am going to take it and be happy solving the smaller problems rather than create my own right now :<0)
