Does anyone know how to correct the time on a Windows XP Professional system where it will actually stay?

My system was built by a manufacturer in EST, but I'm in CST...so, everytime I change it to an hour ahead where it's supposed to be, it keep reverting back to EST.

Is there bulletin or something that Bill may have published on the MS website that might tell how to change the time permanently? Any ideas on fixing this would be appreciated.

Go into date and time in Control Panel and set everything up correctly.
Also make sure it's set correctly(to match) in the bios.
That done, if it doesn't hold you need a new motherboard battery which is $5,or less, at RadioShack (They sell them at Amazon if you can't get them there.).

Is the current time zone set correctly for your location in the Date & Time Properties? Double-click the clock in the system tray to bring up the properties - the current time zone is at the bottom. If its incorrect, you can change it at the Time Zone tab.

Motherboards have had batteries for at least 15 years.

OK. I never knew that because I guess I've never had any problems with them.

But, I usually get a new system about every 3 to 4 years too.
