Games just shuts off and goes back to desktop.

I need some help here.


I just bought,

Inspirion 6000 Dell laptop
Microsoft XP professional
Intel Centrino 1.7 ghz504mb
80gb

128mb Mobile Intel 915gm/gms,910GML express video



SO the above are my specs.

What is happening is I have botten 3 different games,
Knights of the Old Republic
Jedi Academy
The Simms

All of the above games play fine for a little bit and then when I get to a certain part of the game of each of them it just turns off(the game) no error screens or anything. It just returns me to the desktop. I havent been able to figure it out.......

have you looked for updates and/or patch's to the games? make sure you not blocking the ventilation holes on your laptop which would cause the processor to run hotter then normal, although playing games on a laptop is going to make that processor get really hot. make sure you have your laptop sitting on a table, or hard surface to provide proper ventilation.

check for video card driver updates as well

After you make sure all the drivers, etc., are updated try plugging in your laptop and shutting down all the background programs, especially any power conserving ones.
Be aware of how hot the laptop is getting, your problem may be something you can solve with one of those special cooling pads for laptops.
If you've done all this and the laptop isn't over heating then it looks like a hardware problem.
