Thanks up front for help.
My son & I are building his computer and nearly completed the hardware assembly. Considering dual boot of Win XP Home Ed (allows his gaming mainly) and Ubuntu (for security and just plain curiosity to explore something else!) but we need good and specific instructions on the formatting of drive and installation process.
HDD = WD SATA 7200rpm; 250 GB; 16MB cache
Should I format first with Win or Linux? Does it matter that drive partition labelling is different between the two? (ie: c,D,E etc vs. /hda, /hdb etc)
I'm thinking splitting the drive 1/2 for each and giving WinXP its own partition separate from data.
Please suggest other forums or posted threads if covered elsewhere.
Thanks again.
(fyi: computer = our 1st build; no prior experience with Linux but I've read alot)
