I have this older computer everything works fine except every once in awhile the keyboard just stops working .
Will be typing something than all of a sudden no keyboard mouse works and everything else.
Turn off the computer than turn the computer back on than tells me a problem with the keyboard.
I unplug and replug it in still no go. Buy a new keyboard and than it works fine again for a little while than same thing happens could you explain to me what could be happening.
The computer isn`t used for much outside of doing reports and things. No one else has ever used it.
All the keyboards can`t be bad or can they. Took it to a tech first time he said to get a new keyboard . Mostly curious am planning on getting a new computer but trying but was hoping this one would last a few months more.
The keyboard is just normal not a wireless.

I've never met a computer that kills keyboards but I'm willing to guess; I'm assuming that the keyboards don't work again period; one way to do that is to send a nice surge through them. It's odd that it isn't taking out the mouse as well but that rules out the motherboard shifting in the case or the I/O shield shifting.
Which pretty much leaves the motherboard with a problem that only shows up sometimes, I really hate those, which means one of the micro-circuits is damaged in some way and when it heats up enough-zap!- it kills another keyboard.

Thanks just was wondering if something could cause the key board to quit other than bad plug ins and cords. You answered my question as I can`t see two keyboards just quitting suddenly while typing other than something wrong on the motherboard.

I've never heard of keyboards getting zapped. This one is new ...
