I have one Desktop PC and two laptops on a home network. In the past I used a print server and a switch in the computer room to network the printer. I recently bought a new PC and multiprinter. I learned the hard way the a lot of the functions of the multi-printer are disabled on a print server. I instead have just enabled sharing through the desktop. Here's my problem.
How can I print when the desktop goes into sleep mode? It gives me the unaccessible error and going down there to "wake it up" defeats the purpose of the network. This is also a file sharing problem I would like to fix.
Any help would be apprectiated. Thanks!

If your desktop is set to go into sleep mode, just turn that function off. On that desktop, right click on the desktop screen, and go to properties. Go to the screen saver tab, then click on the power button. Wherever you have settings such as "System Standby" or "Turn off Hard Disks", make sure they are all set to Never. This way the system should stay "awake" at all times.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have changed the settings. Can I still have the monitor and hard disk turn off after 15min?

Monitor, yes. Hard disk, no - why would you want to do that anyway?

I guess I just assumed that it would save some power. The biggest thing is the monitor, I'd rather not have it on 24/7.
Thanks again

I leave my computer on 24/7 and let the monitor go down after 20 minutes.

I'd be less concerned about hard disks using power. your monitor will consume more power (especially if its a CRT monitor).
