I see a lot of mentions in this site and others about going to Ewido.net and doing a scan. When I go there, it says that it is beta version and should not be used on production machines. Can the free on line screen be used safely or not ? Thanks in advance.

The online scan is still Beta... but you can download the trial version and use it free. It comes with a 14 day free trial of the sheild, and after that you can continue to update and use the scanner. I recommend downloading it, as it is quicker than the online scan and more effective when you can use it without having to go to site and what not. I have the trial installed on my PC, and still do frequent scans.

The disclaimer about using the online scan is just "CYA" on Ewido's part. Pretty much standard procedure for any program that is still in the testing stages.
I have used the online scanner on multiple machines and found it to be a sound tool.

I updated AdAware, ran it and it found 2 critical items which I removed. Then I updated Spybot S & D and it found one item that I removed. I then did that online scan with Ewido and it found 23 items that I then removed. Is Ewido that much better at finding spyware than AdAware and Spybot ?
Ewido is more than just a spyware scanner. It also looks for Trojans and other assorted malware. All these recommended programs do complement each other.

Thanks ryan, kev, and glc for the info. I guess I need to add Ewido to my arsenol to keep the computer as safe as possible.
