Greetings Everyone,

I am in need of some assistance, my friend and I have decided we want to upgrade our video cards. Currently we both have ATI 300SE cards. While these cards are ok for everyday use of a PC they leave a lil to be desired when Gaming and in photo editing and such.

We would also prefer the card to be a All in Wonder type card by ATI so that we get the video graphics plus the ability to capture TV/Video. When looking into these cards it gets a bit overwhelming to what would be the best route to go.

We both own new pc's that are 2.8 Gig processors with dual threading.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you.

I love the AIW series. Assuming you have a AGP port, an AIW 9800 Pro is a nice budget card that can handle most games. If you want more gaming power, the AIW X800 is a better choice, but is more $$.

The AIW 9800 is a card that I had helped my friend pick out for his 2nd pc last time he needed one, unfortunately both of our new pc's doesn't have the AGP slots available they both have the new PCIE cards in them instead.

There are PCI-E versions of the 800, for example:

For less money, and of course, a lot less gaming power:

The All-in-Wonder X600 pro will fill in if the budget is really tight but it's still not a good gamer.
If you don't mind waiting awhile longer an X1600 AIW version will likely be out and the price should be reasonable.
Or, you can get the X1600XT now and get a capture card to go with it.

Make sure your PCs have PowerSupplies which can handle a new video card, also.

Are they even going to have an AIW x1600? I haven't looked for one, but don't remember seeing one, either. I know that the AIW x1800 is out already...

ATI says there will be one but I haven't seen any dates yet.
