HP Pavilion dv1000t versus ThinkPad T60

Hi. I am going to buy a new laptop mostly to log in to my companies' VPN and do work on the train. I will need WIFI and either a Verizon or Cingular plan to dial in. I am debating between the HP Pavilion dv1000t and Lenovo ThinkPad
T60. I want to spend around $1500. I can get the HP configured with the Core Duo processor T2300 1.66 GHz for about $1330 with help from my brother's HP employee discount. The big difference is that for about $1500 I can get the ThinkPad T60, but configured with the Intel Core Solo processor T1300 (1.66 GHz). I know ThinkPad's are a more solid build and will last longer. Do you think the difference in processor is THAT important ? Which do you think is better ?

The HP Pavilion laptops are not very reliable or durable. That right there would make my decision for me.

You may also want to take a look at the ThinkPad Z60t -- it's the older Sonoma Centrino as opposed to Napa (which is what the T60 is), but it's 14" widescreen and is also available with EV-DO. You probably don't want the Z60m, as that is 15.4" widescreen and much heavier. Some people say the Z60 isn't as nicely built as the T43, but I took a look at the Z60t at a conference I was at and it seems to be nice enough.

Thanks for your reply. I looked at the ThinkPad Z60t today and it is lighter and probably a bit more portable than the T60. Also, Lenovo currently has a good deal on them right now for $1249. Most likely I will order this tomorrow.
