I have a pc whose monitors goes blank and the only way to get them to come back on is to turn the pc off and back on. I have a dual monitor setup and both monitors are doing this at the same time. This is also the second pc to do this in a month.

I wonder if the latest microsoft updates are messing with the video cards that were installed a few years ago for the 2nd monitor, causing this problem. They are Radeon video cards, off of the top of my head, I don't know which ones.

I actually scrapped the first pc and gave the user a new one. Same monitors but new video card. No problems. Also, upgraded from 2000 to XP. Anyone have any ideas, because now it is my bosses pc that is having problems.

Do you have the latest drivers for the Video cards?

I did on the first pc that I ended up scrapping. Not sure on this one. Do you know if the video card I added for the second monitor could cause both monitors to do this?

If I understand correctly, you have two video cards in one PC and they both lose video to the monitors. Since one is an AGP or onboard and the other a PCI, I'm thinking possible mother board or PSU problem

I think you are right. The pc won't even fire up today, just sits there clicking. Looks like a new pc for the boss.

Clicking? That sounds more like a hard drive failure.

Nope, I pulled the hard drive and put it in another pc, re-worked a few of the video cards, downloaded a few drivers and it works ok. It wasn't the click of death of the hard drive, it was one I had never heard before. Like I said, this was the bosses pc and she was worried that she may not have moved everything to the network drive and may lose info.

I think I may have had a similar problem to what you're describing...Win XP dual monitor setup on a AIW 9600pro with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe.

Check to see what you have running on startup. Chances are, something is in there that you can do without and may be causing issues.

Also, what catalyst drivers are you running?
