10,000 RPM HDD's????

What is more important on a SATA Hard drive.....

??10,000RPM's or 16MB's Buffer??

I have the option of getting a Serial ATA 10,000RPM w/8MB Buffer

or a Serial ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer

to run windows which will be faster?????

Trouble is with comparing these aspects is that benchmarking can show you one thing, while real-world performance might be completely different.

There's no doubt that the 10,000 RPM drives are quick, but they're expensive for the amount of storage you get.

I personally would get a Drive with the 16MB/s buffer, providing much more storage for the same price, unless budget is not a concern.

I want the fastest drive possible, I don't care about size.....i'll get a second drive for my media. I want a fast drive for XP and for my programs. Thats why I wanted to go with the 74GB 10,000RPM WD raptor, and a 400 GB second drive. The problem is that the 74gb 10,000rpm drive only comes with the 8MB buffer, so my question was is it worth the 8mb buffer to get the 10,000rpm's???
