well my problem is my hp dvd writer/cd writer 3000c dont read dvd or burn them but it reads and burn cds

DVD-ROM's and DVD-Writers actually contain two laser mechanisms; one for DVD, one for cd. The result is that one can break, leaving you with the functionality of the other one. In any case, this sounds like an RMA return (is it still under warranty ?)
