i had a 6600gt from evga and it has worked fine, but recently switched to a 6800gs and have been having artifacts on boot with 2 exchanges, and still have the same problem, do you the think the problem is on my side, what can i do to solve it, i know that its not overheating, could it be power, drivers, should i reset the cmos

If you properly removed all drivers with the 6600gt still connected to the mobo and installed the 6800gs with the newest drivers, you can rule out the driver issue. The xClio is a good PSU, should be able to handle that vidoe card. Especially since that psu has dual 12 V rails. If you are getting artifacts, I would say return that card. It shouldn't be on your sides if drivers were properly installed.

The X850XT is more powerful card than a 66800GS, but it isn't a HUGE difference.

The only way you can solve that one is to impose on a friend and try the card in his computer.
If it works fine for him the problem is on your side, if it artifacts for him you've gotten your 3rd dud.

I don't know if this'll make a difference, but wipe all your drivers with the 6600GT in, then run a Driver Cleaner. Reboot/Shut down. Insert new card, and install new Forceware. Reboot.
