windows xp pro backup

Hello

Im attempting to back up my data with windows xp pro, the way I did this was backup to my harddrive and then burnt it to a disk.Now in the case of catastrophe , would I reinstall windows and just insert this cd? Im little confused about how the back up utility works.

The back up utility with xp pro

You would have to use the restore portion of the backup utility. If you are looking for an easier way to restore after a catastrophe, get an imaging program such as Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost and create a full image to a bootable CD.
