I'm trying to figure out what to buy for this PC. (I know this is gonna be a fun topic for you knoledgable guys. I'll get so much information I wont be able to assimilate it all)

I'm about to buy a CDRW with the idea of making copies of my Grand Childrens photo's, my Music I have on Tape, for use in the Car Stereo.
And some other permanant Documents I want to save on some kind of readable Media for the Future.

SO: Am I wasting my time with CDRW?
Is there something better, or more futureistic.

Is DVD the same type of storage as CD?

Will a DVD read/writer do both CD's and DVD's?

Yes, a DVD/RW will do both CD's and DVD's. DVD's are more expensive for the media but you can record the equivalent of 7 or 8 CD's on one DVD.

DVDRW is the best choice. Quality units are $40 or less. And as Panama Red has already said, you can store much more info which makes the DVDRW even more cost effective.

Lordy, I've been under a rock for quite a while now.
Thanks for the heads up.

CD-RW drives are almost obsolete now.
