I'm trying to create a boot CD ROM that simply partitions the drive into a C: and D: for our new PC builds. (Does not need to format) I'm having trobule creating a custom boot CD, I'm using WinImage to create the CD image, and Nero 5.5 to create the boot CD. I don't necessarily need help scripting the the autoexe file to run fdisk and partition the drives, the part I am really stuck with is just getting a PC to boot off a CD! I haven't created one before, and this is new territory for me. Any suggestions welcome.

Any reason you can't use a floppy instead? Even if you can't, set up the boot floppy to do everything that you want, and then use that boot floppy as the source for the boot CD. Much easier.

Most PC's do not include floppies by default anymore.

our new PCs do not have a floppy drive included, i could buy a USB floppy drive but i'm trying to eliminate as many steps as possible and just have a CD that does this right off the bat.

I've always created a boot CD by first creating a boot floppy, then in Nero using that floppy when it asks for where the boot image is supposed to come from. Simply sticking the necessary files on a CD and then burning it won't create a bootable CD.

There should be an option in your burning software along the lines of "Make CD Bootable". When I used Roxio basic it allowed you to use a default boot configuration or select your own boot image.

Nero has an option to create a bootable CD.

It's under "data disk", "bootable data disk"
