Ubuntu Base installation problem?

Hi everyone so ever since i started on this forum ive been seening that alot of people use this ubuntu linux and i wanted to see what all the fuzz was about so i got an old rig from my closet. 466mhz 128mb 2 driver..40 gb maxtor and a 7 gb samsung. So i installed xp on the maxtor and got on with the installation on the 7 gb with ubuntu i do have a bigger drive but this will be my test before i mess up a bigger drive...anyways i think the problem started before this

I downloaded the ubuntu iso..when i went to burn the image using nero 6 i got this message "Foreign Image File; the entered block size does not correspond to the image length. The block size may be wrong. Do you want to correct the value or ignore the problem?" when i try to correct i get a window with options Data mode 1, data mode 2, audio and hsf..i have no idea what this is so i ignored it and burned the image... restarted the rig put the cd in and it worked fine..now i went to all the partion made the / and the swap an the home/ ... when i try to install it i keep getting this error " the debootstrap program existed with an error(return value 1) check/target/var/log/bootstrap.log for details.

So my question is did i do something wrong or should i dl and burn ubuntu again..does anyone have a good link i got the link from pcmech..Thanks guys i really appreciate all the help i can get..i'll admit im a linux n00b

I can't answer your questions myself but I've found this site (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/) very usefull.

You should definitely download the image again. You shouldn't have any problems burning the ISO in either Windows or Linux. I think the corrupt download is propogating to your Ubuntu install.

Just FYI - Ubuntu is going to be stressed with only 128 MB of RAM. It will work, but it's going to be very slow. If you have another 128 MB laying around, upgrade it to 256 MB and the improvement will be pretty significant.

yeah i know 128 mb is really low but this is my test sytem i do have a 1.3ghz with 700 mb of ram and my system now 64 3200+ with 1gb and then its gonna get put in my new system..so its just a test..im gonna try and dl ubuntu again any one have a good link?

thanks for the link the installation worked well. Im writting this from ubuntu and now im gonna see what else i can do. This is really neat..thanks guys
