I decided to try the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 sound card after my OEM Creative Soundblaster 5.1 card bit the dust. It seems that the sound card world is dominated by Creative and that there are no other solutions. Thankfully that is not true.
The M-Audio Revolution 5.1 card arrived at the house in a very nice box with all software and an easily understandable manual. Installation into my Abit KN8 Ultra was a breeze with the only real downside being a capacitor a little too close to a case clip. The driver load was fairly simple and the audio suite had quite a few test modes and speaker setups. You can even save multiple setups and relate them to specific applications, i.e. 5.1 surround for movies/games and regular old stereo for music. Last but not least is the very adequate web site support which has a very easy method to determine if you need a driver update.
I definitley give this sound card a 9/10 and would recommend it to anyone. Especially those who want to give another brand a chance.
