Hi everybody,

I was wondering if there was a specific way that RAM should be aligned in a motherboard.

For example, I have two 512 Mb sticks, and my motherboard has 4 slots, labelled Channel A, and Channel B.

Should I stick one in each Channel, or both in Channel A?

Thanks for your time!

Check in your motherboard manual to find in which slots to install memory for Dual Channel operation. In my Gigabyte board, it's slots 1&2, but it may be different for yours.

Thanks Freakitchen... a healthy dose of RTFM was exactly what I needed... :)

Turns out I can install the memory so that the motherboard accesses it in an "interleaved" mode... in which case, I would have to install one module in each Channel.

Thanks!

And happy to put down 1000 here :D

Just thought I'd add that if you download a small program called CPU-Z, one of the tabs will tell you if your RAM is running in dual channel mode, which is obviously what you want for best performance.
