A few teachers at my school got some new computers, but speakers weren't included. They must be AC powered, 2-piece speakers. It's just for use at the school, so high quality is NOT needed. I'd hate to spend more than $20 on a set. Any suggestions? I've been checking the web sites of Office Max, Best Buy, etc., but they don't say whether they're AC powered or not--and it's a 2-hour drive to go shopping in person.

Altec has the AC22 (I think that's the model) for about 19.95. My daughter has a set and they're pretty decent. Also, just about all speakers are AC powered now too. Labtec's are pretty good for the $$ too.

I have Altec Lansing ACS43, 2 pcs w/power adapter. These are NEW, won't count as brand new, because I used for a day or 2. $20 shipped could go.Only I don't have original box.
LMK.
Sorry for my Sale/Trade Forum likewise reply. :(

G,
Don't apologize, that's a very nice set of speakers for $20.

The standard for dirt cheap AC powered speakers is the Juster AC-691 (http://www.asipartner.com/AsiSku/628.html) . These cheapies run about $6 and they use a standard power plug - no brick. The only bad thing is the cords are real short but you can get extension cables or just splice extra cable in. They sound OK for el cheapos - and we use them for our "business" systems running off the onboard audio.
