Hey everyone, I just moved into my brand new home and am still enjoying the scent of new carpet. However, what I am not enjoying is a working wireless network. So here is my porblem I hope someone here can help :)

I recently bought a neatgear wireless router model WGR614v6 (about 12 hours ago actualy haha). I brought it home, set it up, followed the directions to the letter and wallah! Well no not really any wallah at all. Neither computer could connect to the internet, so with a bit of work I managed to get the main computer connected to the internet through the router. Unfortunately I still cannot connect on my other comp. defeating the purpose of buying a wireless router.

The 2nd computer says its connecting to the router and getting a great signal but it refuses to connect to the internet. There is probably some simple fix I am unaware of and though being rather computer savy, wireless networking is just not my thing :/ PLEASE any help would be VERY VERY much appreciated :)

What are the brands and models of the wireless cards on both computers ? And what exactly happens when you try to connect ? Does it give an error message ?

Here's an explanation of what I had to do when I added a router to my DSL modem: I was issued a static IP from my ISP for my computer, when I added a router I used that IP for the router and let the router be the DHCP server and made sure the DHCP server was turned off in the modem.

Haha thanks for all the replies guys! :D But I stayed up all night last night and figured it out.

If anyone is having the same issue I'll post here what I did to fix my problem.

I had to logon to the router via routerlogin.net and use the defalt name and password which is admin and "password" And run setup manualy (as opposed to just relying on the CD) set everything to automaticaly assign adresses and set "router MAC address" to the "use this address" setting then enter the mac address of the router (found on the back of the router itself). Make sure you have G and B selected, for some reason haveing only G would not work for me even though my usb adapter is a g :/

I found that with the security settings enabled for wireless setup I could not access the internet from my wireless pc and once i removed the security settings from the router i was then able to recognize the other computer. Also I made sure that both comps had DHCP enabled and viola I can now enjoy the marvels of wireless internet! Woot! :)

Thanks again for all your replies.

P.S. I am useing a netgear wgr614v6 wireless router along with appropriate usb adapter for other pc. Hopefully this will help somone with the same problem :D
