need a good photo scanner

I am looking for a photo scanner to use on polaroid film. My choices are between a photomax scanner(because it will be free with Polaroid Macro 5 camera), and using a Epson 1640su. The photomax has less resolution 1200dpi vs 1600dpi, and is only 24-bit color vs 42-bits. But I read that a scanner specifically for photos is better. Any inputs or other recommendations?

I like the HP ScanJet 5370C .for the fact that it will do negatives.works great for photo work. price was 299.00
