Does anyone know which software to use or how to format external hard drives to play music in your car stereo? I have a JVC with an USB connection on the front and it recognizes wma and mp3. I would like to take my 160 GB hard drive fill it up with my music collection and play it anywhere I go. I'm frugal, I don't have the money for an expensive ipod or other portable devices that only stores 60 GB for $400.00

How would you provide power for the external hard drive? I don't know of any 3.5" hard drives that get there power thru the usb connection. Some 2.5" enclosures do provide power thru the usb but I haven't looked for any 3.5" ones.

The hard drive is an external usb and I have a 12volt ac/dc converter for the cigarette lighter.
